Meet Eliza Doolittle
"Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever." Karen Davison
Meet Eliza Doolittle. Eliza has much to be thankful for this holiday season. She was found abandoned in a Sacramento neighborhood, frightened, unkempt, suffering from advanced dental disease, painful mammary tumors and more. It took a little coaxing, but she was secured and hopped into the car, ready to leave her old life behind.
It has taken some time, commitment, and love, but Eliza has been transformed into the cute, happy little dog you see in the photos. She needed to be shaved down because her fur was in such poor condition, undergo a dental cleaning with extractions to fix her painful dental disease, and later have surgery to remove her numerous tumors and to be spayed. With each treatment and surgery, she began to feel better, her trust grew, and she began feeling like a loved and cared-for little dog.
Today Eliza enjoys walks with her resident dog pals, sleeping in cozy, plush dog beds, and, most of all, lounging on the couch with her people. She shows her gratitude with her happy disposition and wagging tail that doesn’t stop. She is joyful, making those around her feel happy too.
One less dog is living a rough life on the street frightened, dirty, cold, hungry, and in pain. With some time, care, good food, and good fortune, this little girl’s life has been changed forever. This holiday season we encourage you to look for ways you can give to your community and neighbors, whether it be helping to care for pets in the community, giving to humans in need, or otherwise. We promise that it will do your heart good and you just might change the world, one pet or human at a time.
